Regulate !

Hey Ben... time to moderate, yo.

EVERY single post in this tribe is a BSP. Meaning it's time to pull the plug on this tribe, or encourage actual discussion of syncopated beats.

Hometeam.... GO!

What do you suggest? A no-BSP policy?

to be honest i think i agree with kurian on this one. it's annoying to check over here and it's always a bsp (for a party i've known about for ages and will be at christ already how many invites do i already have for it????!!!!!!) and rarely do the bsps even lead to a discussion of the event cause we have beatchurch and false profit and club janky and get freaky and god knows how many others for all that.... i mean, is there anyone in this tribe who isn't a part of at least one of those others?

Believe me, it's not only THIS tribe that suffers from the online equivalent of a windshield full of flyers for some wannabe-massive. But I happen to care enough about this genre that it offends me a bit more here than elsewhere.

Many, MANY tribes suffer from the same syndrome. I mean, what's the point of having a discussion group for your crew, or your musical interest if the whole page is just BSPs? (And often unrelated to the specific tribe to boot.) I don't know about you, but I find it pretty disrespectful for someone who never posts to pop up with an event blast and disappear again, and not even take the time to post it as a listing. It's kinda like some neighbor kid taking a crap on my porch.

IMHO, it's really as simple as asking people to post their events as LISTINGS instead of topics. And removing any that aren't. Makes room for some conversation at least.

My "pull the plug" comment was intended to be ironic, not a genuine suggestion. I just couldn't believe there wasn't a single post that wasn't a BSP.

Now as for whether there's anything to talk about... you folks are really going to tell me that there's no one producing anything breaks-like currently that's worthy of mention?

(Shit, you're gonna make me do some homework, ain'tcha?)

    Yeah!

    Exactly!

Cuz there's *SO* much to discuss surrounding breakz.

And, Layla you do have this amazing ability to know about parties even before they get planned. I have marveled--on many occasions over the years--at your party prediction talents. It must truly be an amazing gift to wake up (in the late afternoon...) and go "Deekline and Krafty Kutz will play Whisper in September of 2009."

I guess I was hoping for this tribe to be a place where people could talk about breaks beyond the bay area, about the music and culture in general. But that community doesn't seem to have emerged, perhaps even because we're busy on other tribes talking about our own scene and upcoming activities. I certainly didn't do anything to foster it. And there's also the groundscore forums and BijouBreaks providing places for people to get that done. So is this tribe just the appendix of online breakbeat conversation? A gall bladder on the information super-getting-high-way?

the only reason i know about parties before they're being planned is because someone somewhere is reading my mind and fulfilling my wishes.... whoever you are THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I have enjoyed being a part of this tribe greatly.

Please... no more talking of "pulling the plug"

We could possibly also limit the mentioning of strange organs and glands... ew.

Let's get back to da' breaks, yee-ha!

Perhaps there isn't much discussion here cuz breaks have been an incredibly tired genre for about 2 years and counting.

I mean, who is producing breaks these days that are breaking new ground. Locally, everyone got caught up in glitch and now dubstep. Internationally, anybody have any ideas? Tipper is pretty much done with uptempo...All the good old boys like Lee Coombs, Dylan Rhymes, etc, etc haven't put anything new out that's tickled my fancy in years.

                  exactly...

The last time there was a protracted discussion about "pulling the plug" I needed a ten day course of penicillin. Man, did *that* burn...
